Day 16

Disembarkment was one of the easiest ever. Our transfer was there when we arrived. The drive from the dock to the hotel was about 30 minutes. I felt right at home because there was construction on every road. The city is a drastic contrast of the new and shiny skyscrapers and the old and deteriorating buildings. Since is is Sarurday the traffic was not too bad.

The Burlington Hotel is a 29 story local peoperty. The desk clerks were helpful in our checkin and directions for our adventure of the day.

We walked .3 of a mile to Wan Chai Subway Station. A lovely young woman helped us find the station. Each of us purchased an Octopus Card that enables us to ride the public transportation. We were thrilled that a senior ticket was 1/2 price!!! Through our laughter, we figured out how to get down to the trains and which train to get on. We exited at Central Station and had no clue how to get to the Pier to board the Hop On Hop Off Bus. When in doubt we eat. Jiang Nan by Crystal Jade was good. See Rita's Food Dump for today.

There is an elaborate pedestrian bridge system which is much more efficient than the Sticky Rice crossing. Decorations for the Chinese New Year illuminated the long bridge. Found the Hop on Hop Off bus and sat in traffic with a little narrative. Not what I am used to with the HOHO bus. Walked to the Star Ferry and headed to Kowloo. There was an art to getting on the Ferry and not be trampled by the crowd. The ride across Hong Kong Bay was beautiful. We spent about 1 hour looking at the windows of all of the designer stores.Since all of us would rather travel than buy designer clothes, we only spent an hour in the crowded streets.

If you saw us on the way back, you might think that we were natives. Nor bad for a bunch of senior bumpkins.

Around the corner from the hotel we ate dinner at Hey Hey Kitchen. The food was delicious.

We are all ready to call it a day and sleep in tomorrow morning.
